• ENGAGE & SAVE

Five easy one-pot pasta dinner ideas that come together in a single pan, meaning less cleanup and dinner on the table faster on a busy weeknight.

One-pot pasta sounds like a compromise, but cooking the noodles directly in the sauce actually makes for a more flavorful dish, since the pasta absorbs everything as it cooks. Here are five easy versions to keep in rotation.

1. Creamy Ham and Broccoli Pasta

Simmer pasta directly in broth and milk with chopped ham and broccoli florets until the noodles are tender and the sauce has thickened. Stir in parmesan at the end for a rich finish.

2. One-Pot Tomato Basil Pasta

Combine pasta, canned tomatoes, garlic, and broth in one pot and simmer until the liquid reduces into a thick sauce. Finish with torn basil and a drizzle of olive oil.

3. Sausage and Spinach Pasta

Brown sliced sausage first, then add pasta and broth directly to the same pot. Stir in fresh spinach during the last couple of minutes so it wilts without overcooking.

4. Lemon Garlic Shrimp Pasta

Cook pasta in broth with garlic and lemon zest, then add shrimp during the final few minutes of cooking so it doesn't turn rubbery. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

5. Cheesy Taco Pasta

Brown ground beef with taco seasoning, then add pasta, broth, and diced tomatoes straight to the pot. Stir in shredded cheese at the end until melted and gooey.

Why It Works

The starch that would normally get poured down the drain with pasta water stays right in the pot, naturally thickening the sauce as everything cooks together. It's part convenience, part flavor trick.
