Brown the ground beef with the onion in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks, about 6 minutes.
Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
Warm the taco shells in the oven for a few minutes according to the package directions.
Fill each shell with the seasoned beef, then top with cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
